Darguin Fortuna Named to the ALX100 Class of 2026

Darguin Fortuna, Founding Principal of Flow Design Architects, has been named to the ALX100 Class of 2026 — a statewide community of Changemakers recognized for their impact, leadership, and contributions across Massachusetts. The Class of 2026 was officially unveiled on the Boston Globe's digital platform on September 10, 2026, and featured in the Boston Globe Magazine's Sunday print edition on September 13.

ALX100 is more than an annual recognition — it's a platform for visibility, connection, and opportunity that brings together leaders across sectors throughout the Commonwealth. The Class of 2026 season continues this fall: the ALX100 sculpture will be unveiled at a public celebration at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, on October 2, followed by the ALX100 Ceremony & Reception at the Massachusetts State House on November 13.

As ALX puts it: once an ALX100, always an ALX100. It's a recognition that joins the rest of a year that has included Darguin's election to the AIA Strategic Council and his service as Chair of the AIA Small Firm Exchange — further proof that the work happening at Flow, in Salem and beyond, is resonating well past the studio.

Darguin's path to this recognition started far from Salem. He was born and raised in Jima Abajo, La Vega, in the Dominican Republic, before coming to the United States to study architecture — earning his Bachelor of Architecture, Summa Cum Laude, from the Boston Architectural College. In 2024, he became the first Dominican-born architect to receive the AIA Young Architect Award, and that same year he was named to the Boston Business Journal's 40 Under 40. His community has recognized that journey too, through honors from the Comite Bandera Dominicana de Salem and INDEX-Boston's "Grandes de Nuestra Comunidad." Each of those moments traces back to the same throughline the ALX100 honor celebrates: building a career, and a firm, that opens the door a little wider for the next person coming up behind him.
